It was a good day to stay home from school. I think I may have had a pretend cough or something. I was excited because the TV set was all mine. That didn't happen much in the 60's.
My mom was about her regular schedule. She didn't pay attention to my fake sickness. But i enjoyed peering around the corner. She was enjoying her friends and percolated coffee. They were chatting away about life and kids and school and marriage. She always had a pot on the stove. I mean always. The neighbor women all gathered around her table. I think this must have happened often. That was the way of life. Friends just gathered. Motto. First we have coffee. Especially when the kids were back in school. I think for them it was where real life happened. It happened in short segments of time and neighborliness and lots of coffee.
I wondered if they had a case of procrastination. Maybe that's where I grew my love for coffee, sweets and taking deep breaths.
I love the slower pace. I love the moments with friends and cups of delicious coffee. I love soul time. Listening. Paying attention to my heart.
But I'm often distracted. I bet you are too. It doesn't take much for me to get lost in the mundane. I wake with the best of intentions to accomplish something. But I get distracted. I procrastinate. I get lost in the media frenzy. I can get lost in media discord. Following and liking. And then I look at my watch! Distracted.
But then I think maybe it's ok. That todo list can wait. I'd rather enjoy a good cup of coffee. I'd love to call a friend or grab that book sitting on my night stand.
Putting things off like cleaning the basement and what about the attic. Someday I say. Not today. Please not today.
Maybe, just maybe procrastinating is an invitation to take a monent. To enjoy a slower pace. Have that welcome conversation. Grab a hug from those little ones. Grab that cup of coffee with a friend or just be alone.
Maybe take that day off of school. Slow the pace.
Pay attention to Jesus. Sometimes we just need to quiet ourselves and listen for that still small voice. He's calling us to rest, to wait on Him, to sit at His feet. Sounds like a good day to me.

I'd urge you to be aware of how many times you repeat a word. I think I saw some form of procrastinate three times. I bet you'd be surprised at how many times you used other words too like coffee and school. Also okay should be written out or both letters capped--OK. When referring to a decade, you write it like this: '60s.
Those are little things though. I especially like devotions where the author shares tidbits of her own life. It makes it easy to relate and apply the lesson to my life. I think the Scriptures you picked were a nice match.
