“God, why are we here again? You said in Your word that You would always provide for us and we believe You, but it’s getting harder to have faith that You will come through for us.” In the midst of my questioning I hear His voice. Quiet and still inside me, “Look around, what do you see?”
“Trees and grass,” I replied.
“What else?” He asked.
“I see the sun and sky. Clouds. The water from the rain that fell last night.”
“I provide air, sunlight, water, everything they need,” God said,” Some of the trees are old and large and some are new growth. Do you know that the trees never wonder if I will give them enough water to live? The small trees never suck up as much water as they can out of fear of not getting enough. They just know it will be there when they need it. They have no need to stock up. What happens to the trees as the seasons change?”
I replied “They lose all their leaves and become barren for the harsh winter.”
“So that I can grow them stronger and bigger,” He added
As I begin to realize where He’s taking me with this, I said, “Yeah, and you said that you clothed the lily and that you keep your eye on a sparrow, but you love us so much more than anything else you’ve created. So You’re just growing us bigger and stronger?” Not really asking the question.
“But I am always watching you and I said in my word that I would always provide for you. Sometimes my timing is not what you want, but I know best what you need.”
Then the peace settled back over me. I have no worry or fear of what’s to come. Bring on the snowstorm, I’m getting stronger!
Remember how strong trees are. If you look at a tree in a thunderstorm, the leaves are whipped around and almost taken off. But God says “Hold on just a little longer; the storm is about to break.”
