Back before time began, the greatest problem man would ever face was solved by a plan most people would find unbelievable. This problem was made by God’s arch enemy who wanting something he could never have, determined that he would spoil any and everything that God would ever make. This really was like a kid saying “I’ll show him”.
But God was determined to go on with His plan for creation. Yes, He knew the devil was going to try to destroy His work, but He had a plan. No, it would not be easy; for it would require the cooperation of the crowing piece of His creation, called man.
Man would have to make a choice. Would he follow the God who loves him or would he follow Satan? That was the ultimate question. It would have to be answered by all of mankind that ever appeared on earth.
The problem would be how to reconcile a Holy God’s justice with His love and mercy.
In order for God’s justice to be satisfied, the penalty for sin must be paid by death, eternal separation, from the Holy God of love. But mercy did not want that separation. God’s love did not want that separation. How could God’s justice, love and mercy be satisfied at one time?
Thus the greatest conflict ever would demand the greatest resolution ever.
The plan really was a simple one. It would be very costly, not to man, but to God. Man would be the beneficiary at the price of God’s own Son.
With His plan in place, God went on to create this perfect world. He placed His crowing piece, man, in a beautiful garden. Then just as God knew, Satan came and tempted man to disobey God. Man made the wrong choice, just as God knew he would. He disobeyed God. Now he was subject to the penalty for that disobedience – separation from God forever.
The whole of God’s creation suffered the effects of that act. But, God’s plan immediately went to work. He told of His plan to man asking him to believe that it would come to pass. As time went on more of His plan was reveled through the prophets.
Slowly God’s plan was being worked out. But mankind, for the most part, chose not to believe God.
Then one day, over two thousand year ago, it all came together. The plan was complete. Jesus Christ, God’s own Son came to earth, born of a virgin. He was tempted in every way we are tempted. Yet He never sinned. Because He was man He could die for our sins. Because He was God; He is holy, and without sin. The perfect sacrifice has been made for you and me.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8)
But this plan also has a part for each of us to do if we want to receive forgiveness of sin and eternal life with God in Heaven. That part is to believe and receive God’s forgiveness. It is as simple as A – B- C.
A – Admit that you are a sinner. Romans 6:23
B – Believe that Christ has paid the penalty for Your sins. 1st. Corinthians 15:3b,4.
C – Choose to receive Christ as your Savior. – Ask Him to forgive you and come into your heart.
Believe God has done what He promised He would do. Read His Word. Fellowship with other like-minded people. Tell other what Christ has done for you. Enjoy the truth of Col. 1:27 “to whom God chose to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; it is Christ in you, the hope for glory.”
Enjoy the greatest Resolution ever made.
