Topic: ROAD TRIP (vacation) (07/02/15)
Newlywed Road Trip

“What is wrong with the moving truck?” I was thinking to myself, as I watched it grow smaller & smaller in my rear-view mirror. My husband was driving that truck and following my car as we moved from Arizona back to Texas. In the days before cell phones, there was no calling to see what was wrong, so I pulled off on one of the side roads in the desert. My husband patiently told me that the truck loaded down would be slower going up the rolling hills and there was nothing to worry about. Relieved, I got back in my car and started to leave. I had a sick feeling when I saw that the moving truck was not following. I pulled back around behind the truck to see that it was stuck in a pit of soft sand. This was our first true test during our short married life together. My mechanical husband began to form a plan, while I prayed for divine wisdom & help. We began looking around this desert area for something, anything, to get the truck unstuck. After looking through cactus, rocks, & litter, something caught my eye. Right there in the middle of the desert, like a shining oasis, was a large piece of plywood! With the plywood under the back tires, soon the moving truck was moving again & we were back on the road. This “test” was completed with no blame, fighting, or insults, which set the course for a life lived every day like two thirsty travelers who found a desert oasis.

This is a sweet story. Not many could handle being stranded in the desert. I'd have loved to see you expand this even more by adding actual dialog and body language. You did a nice job of writing on topic and showing the power of prayer. Nice job.
