Topic: GREED (avarice, particularly for wealth and things) (01/22/15)
I want. I need. I have to have. I can’t live without.

I will be nothing if I don’t get it.

Give it to me now, or I will die.

Death.

I acknowledge that I am a greedy person; not so much for money or possessions. I live a modest life and I am content. (Or am I?) My greed manifests itself in other forms.

I am greedy for control. Control that seems impossible to gain. The power to make someone else behave or respond in a way I think is right.

I am greedy for time. Time to do what I want regardless of the consequences or the impact on others.

I am greedy for food. The food I want to eat no matter the effect on my health.

I scream in my car out of anger and frustration for seemingly lack of control over my time, my mind, my gifts, and my life.

Anger rises up and boils to the top of my head needing a spout from which steam can escape. But instead, escape comes in inappropriate facial expressions, sarcastic comments, words spewing forth at speeds and volumes that often do not mirror the conversation. I want someone to know I want control.

I want control.

I want.

I need.

How will I overcome this greed?

Death must come.

I must “put to death, therefore whatever belongs to my earthly nature sexual immorality, lust, evil desires, and greed which is idolatry.”(Col 3:5 NIV)

In my own strength… impossible. In the saving, forgiving, loving grace of God… all things are possible.

This was good form for presenting your thoughts and illustrations.

Greed can be shown to be unlike contentment. If we are content, we won't have greed.

Keep warning us about where and how greed can enter our lives.

I understand your point about greed and I like that you took a fresh approach. When you said, "I scream in my car" it seems out of place for me in your submission. Is that the only place you realize you want and need the things you mentioned?

You have some important subject material here, showing that greed takes many forms. And a need for control is one which causes misery for lots of people. Submission to Christ at all times is our perfect answer. God bless you for your great message here. Keep on growing with us! Blessings!
