Topic: Write for the ACTION and/or ADVENTURE Genre (11/13/14)
Some years ago I faced making a decision that would change my life. Never having been the adventurous type, stepping out of my comfort zone was difficult for me. Before I was married I went to college and earned a Two Year continuing certificate to teach school in Kansas. I did this for one year before we were married and two years after. All my life I wanted to be a teacher. When we decided to have our family, I stayed home. In the space of six years, we were blessed with a son and three daughters. Caring for them was a joy and a priceless blessing. When our youngest was ready for kindergarten, I thought about returning to college. We had now moved to Colorado. My mother received a $I, 000 inheritance which she divided between my two sisters and me. I decided I could use this for tuition. At that time an hour’s credit was $15.00. I made a list of pros and cons. The con list was much longer. After praying about this, it turned out the Lord was for the pro list. So, I made preparations. Registration was held in a gym. Different professors were seated at their table, scattered throughout the area. This seemed to me like a jungle full of hungry, wild animals. Nevertheless, I went in. First I went to see my assigned adviser. She told me what classes I would need. I would go to a professor only to learn his class was full. Then it was back to the adviser, back to the professor and on and on and on. When I was tempted to give up and go home, I prayed and the Lord told me to put on my full armor and persevere. I did and ultimately, I graduated and was able to teach 22 years here and enjoy it very much. God is so good--all the time.

A good adventure story illustrating finding God's will and trusting it enough to do it.

Sometimes we can think of each part of our life as an adventure. Raising children is an adventure. Teaching school is an adventure. Sometimes even a day in these activities can be an adventure.

Are you beginning this now as an adventure in writing?

Nice! I can relate, as I have never been the adventurous type either.

Possibly dividing it into some paragraphs might be good - to kind of give the reader's eyes a pause now and then.

It is cool to be able to look back and see God's hand orchestrating everything, even if it was hard to see at the time.
