During my college days God proved He was the God of the impossible. The summer after my sophomore year I got married. Seven months into my junior year in Bible College I was laid off from my job. My wife was teaching private piano lessons part time and I was able to secure work sporadically. We were able to finish that school year but as that summer progressed the economy slumped even more and work was harder to find. My trips to the school’s student employment office became more frequent and less fruitful.
The day to register for the new fall semester had arrived. The registration process was normally a two day affair. The first day was spent standing in line waiting to meet with the department dean to arrange my class schedule. While on campus I decided to visit the student employment office to see if any new job openings were available. To my utter disappointment there were none. The drive home was very tedious, irritating and protracted.
Dinner that evening was very quiet. We both knew the next day was the last day to register for school and there were no job prospects in sight. Later, as we prepared to go to sleep I prayed, “Father, we know this is where You want us to be. You brought us here to prepare for Your service. You know tomorrow is the last day we can register and we must go to the business office to complete our registration. You need to figure out how You are going to pay Your bill because we can’t. In Jesus’ name Amen.”
The next morning as I drove to school I kept reminding God of His financial obligation. Once on campus it was necessary for me to complete a couple of registration steps before proceeding to the school’s business office. On my way to the business office Mr. Merritt from the student’s employment office stopped me on the sidewalk.
“Dan, I’m glad I caught you. Have you found any work yet?”
“No, I haven’t,” I replied.
“Stop by the office. I had a freight company call this morning and they are looking for a rate and billing clerk. They need someone that can start immediately. I thought of you and gave them your qualifications. They would like to see you this morning or this afternoon at the latest.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, I’ll go there now!” I shouted as I vigorously shook his hand.
The job interview was successful. The hours they wanted me to work fit perfectly into my college schedule. I returned to school that afternoon to sign a promissory note at the business office and started work the very same night. My wife and I praised God that He is the God Who can do the impossible.

A good example of praying for God's will to be done and not praying for your own wants to be done.
The summer time was God's testing time for your dedication to what God wanted you to do. When you passed the test, God answered.
Keep doing what God wants done and in the way God wants done so he will continue to bless.
