When worries, fears or cares leave me worn and weary, I hear a voice from deep within, “Rest, my soul, rest. Rest in Jesus.”
When the work is long and hard, and muscles ache, and fatigue brings longing for relief, my body leads me to lie down and close my eyes. It’s then I remember Jesus said He gives rest to His beloved.
When sadness or regret tugs at the heart and brings a cloud to cover the joys in life, I go to God’s word to find new hope and strength and peace.
When illness or injury comes calling, and there is nothing to do but give in and lay abed, my mind says I’m not good for anybody or anything; then I must cry out to God who reminds me that in Him there is healing, comfort and purpose. His word is the sword that defeats the enemy’s dark thoughts.
When seasons of joy bring much activity and family gatherings, even then I fall exhausted into bed and find God is there to give needed sleep so as to arise for another busy day.
There is no season, circumstance or issue that causes us to face the challenge alone. God is here, there and everywhere, and He leads us to His place of peace. The world has no weapon that can conquer life’s burdens or protect from the enemy’s arrows – only God can overcome. In Him, His children find true rest.
