Topic: Singing (10/31/05)
I do not have a good singing voice at all. I'm one of the millions that are plagued with thinking I do, but my friends tell me otherwise. I only sing in my car with the windows rolled up. I try to harmonize and sing the lead parts of all songs. I like to sing. It takes me out of the funk I might be in and relaxes me enough to enjoy myself. I sing softly when someone else is in the car, and sometimes I don't sing at all.
I sing rock and roll songs and Christian songs while driving. Christian songs seem to relax me more and I tend to drive slower. God loves all of our singing voices. It's beautiful to him because he created us. And if we sing to him and about him, he loves that even more.
The voices I hear on the radio or in church are beautiful voices. I can close my eyes and just listen to the words through the melodious harmony. A particular church has a woman singing that I think has an awesome voice. The more incredible the voice, the more I am able to concentrate on the words.
If I am consciously thinking and listening to words, I can find that I correlate that song to God. Always. It never fails. I can image all songs as praise songs, even if they are secular in nature. All i have to do is think about God, the words of the song, and turn the focus from a man singing to a woman to me singing to God. For instance, “I miss you baby, please come back to me. It's been so long now since I've had you in my life.” I'm sure that's in a song or two somewhere. Now, sing it this way, “I miss you Lord, please come back to me. It's been so long since I've had you in my life.” It completely changes the song and the meaning behind it.
Singing is a way to release tension. Our bodies have to get the stress and tension out somehow. I've cried and sang before, yelled and sang and definitely I have smiled and sang. Singing gives me the freedom to be myself and if I sing poorly, that's okay. Its sound good to me and I know it definitely sounds good with God.

This jumps around a bit, but your message is clear. Keep on singing (and writing!).

I would split your paragraphs up. This seems to be a common thread of the articles written. Folks not feeling they are wonderful singers. Just keep singing and writing. God bless
