In a garden full of pretty flowers,
Or with a person who smells just right,
Oh what a Heavenly scent and sight.
We all enjoy a home cooked meal,
Time with family is the real deal,
Or holding a new puppy real tight,
Oh what a Heavenly scent and sight.
The bakery smells can make us sing,
Or the local Gab & Eat in the morning,
Talking while eating out is a real delite,
Oh what a Heavenly scent and sight.
Riding through the woods on a bike,
What will Heaven really smell like?
We can be sure it’ll be just right,
Oh what a Heavenly scent and sight.
What is the fragrance of real love?
Imagine seeing the descending doves,
Or God’s glory that is so bright,
Oh what a Heavenly scent and sight.
Maybe it’s sharing His Amazing Grace,
And seeing a good friends face
as they finally see the Light,
Oh what a Heavenly scent, and sight.
2 Corinthians 2:14-17 (NRSV)
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads in every place the fragrance that comes from knowing him. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not peddlers of God's word like so many; but in Christ we speak as persons of sincerity, as persons sent from God and standing in his presence.
Verse 17 calls for the following thoughts about the “We” of this passage:
Instead of saying, “I’ll be praying for you.”
“We” just do it, we pray with and for you. Too many well intentioned people say it, but don’t pray it. Just do it!
Instead of saying, “Let us know if you something.”
“We” say, can we bring meals to you? Or, can we call or come visit with you, or meet for a meal or coffee? Does your grass need cut? How can we help you? What needs can we meet? If the needs are obvious, then we just do what we can to meet those needs.
Just do it!
Friends, let’s be people of sincerity! We can be part of the “We” of this passage. Let’s spread the fragrance that comes from knowing him. Oh what a Heavenly scent and sight.
