One of the main ways we evaluate our success in life is through our possessions. After all, we all want nice things and nice things cost a lot of money. We like new cars, nice homes, fancy restaurants, and exotic vacations. We also feel secure when we have plenty of extra money to cover all of life’s potential shortfalls.
Now there is really nothing wrong with having nice things and enjoying them. Where the problem lies is when we put “things” above all else. This is when we consider our personal wealth to be the most important thing in our lives. It is also when we always want more and more, even when we really don’t need it. Rather than helping others and putting our money to good use, we only use it for ourselves. When we reach this point, we are certainly headed for a downfall.
If “stuff” is what really makes us happy, what explains the tendency of man to never be satisfied with his possessions? After all, how many stories have you heard of celebrities, star athletes, successful politicians and Hollywood stars who use drugs, alcohol, and sex as part of a self-destructive lifestyle searching for ever greater happiness. Try as they may, they never seem to reach that elusive state. Even more tragically, suicide even is used in the worst cases because the person just can’t find inner peace.
I think that the real problem is what we consider riches and wealth. If we can search for a higher spiritual order and find it, then our life becomes much happier and complete. Yes, it becomes richer. And while this is not easy, it is readily available to each of us.
Remember, Jesus Christ died on the Cross to save us from our sins. All we have to do is seek Him out and He will be there for us. Now this isn’t easy. It requires commitment of time, dedication to loving Him, ourselves and our fellow man, and constant study and prayer to become infected by the Holy Spirit. And since we are mere mortals, we will fail time and time again in our efforts. We must constantly pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and redouble our efforts.
This is really what we mean by the concept to be born again. We open ourselves up to the Holy Spirit and let him fill our lives. It is as if we are breathing fresh air which cleanses us and purifies us. We see life differently, we see “things” differently, and find a higher purpose to our life.Even more so, we change our view and what is important and what makes us wealthy. We see true wealth in the gift of salvation, knowing that there will be a better place for us when our earthly life is over. When we reach this state, and it is something that we continue to strive for throughout our life, then we are truly wealthy. This wealth can never be taken away from us.

There is nothing wrong with acquiring wealth through God's blessings, but it is wrong when that is placed above Him. Beautifull said.

When I first opened your story, the flood of ink literally took me back. I moved my head to try and focus my eyes. You may want to hit preview before submit and proof your article again. This helps because you can see how it will look to the reader. Then you would have caught the repeating paragraph and the spots when you missed a space between words.
However, that is a tiny thing and something so many of us do the first few times we submit. Your message was on topic. The ending was strong and it resonated through me. It can never be taken from me! Those are wonderful words to remember.
