Topic: Flowers (10/03/05)
God has blessed people with so many little treasures, we need only take the time to recognize them. Flowers are a wonderful gift from the LORD to mankind. Our Father shows love through all of creation, but flowers are to be enjoyed simply for the beauty of appearance and the sweet perfume.

When the first flowers appear in the spring our hearts are lightened. Our spirits are lifted by the emergence of even the early crocus.

Not only are flowers objects of beauty, but it is one of the many ways God reaffirms His everlasting covenant. We are likened to the earth, though we have our fall and sink into the death of winter, we shall be renewed and brought back to life. We shall became a sweet fragrance to the LORD. Our beauty to come shall far surpass even the most perfect flower.

Just as God restores the Earth every spring, so shall He restore us. We are flowers in God’s garden.

"For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away!" (Song of Songs 2:11-13 NKJV)

The next time you see an exquisite orchid, a beautiful rose or a pesky dandelion think of God’s gift to us and thank Him.

I like the way you made the connection between flowers and people. You stated that flowers are treasures and we are flowers in God's garden. That makes us treasures too! I also liked how you reminded the readers to be thankful, even for dandelions. :)

Flowers are truly gifts from God, there for our enjoyment and to allow us to see how much God appreciates us. Thanks for sharing.
