“Now, what can I give her to show her I care,” the young man said to himself. The dancing roses caught his eye as he pulled out his pocket knife.
“This is an important moment,” he continued in his thoughts as he trimmed three beautiful roses from one of the bushes on the side of his house. “Today, I find out if she likes me more than just a friend. It’s time to find out if I’m more than just someone she knows but someone she really cares about.”
With tender care, he trimmed off the thorns on the stems and wrapped them gently in his handkerchief, the one his grandmother gave him for his twenty-first birthday with his initials stitched in the corner.
As he got behind the wheel of his car and gently rested the roses in the seat next to him, a wave of doubt came over him. “What if she rejects me?” He panicked inside.
Then, the soft summer breeze blew through the open car window and made the rose petals dance again. He smiled and sighed. “No matter how she feels about me, I know how I feel about her. I love her with the most spectacular love.”
The young man turned the key and the car roared in the direction of her home.
Sweet story, huh? Reminds you of a poignant scene from a movie, doesn’t it?
What if this story was more than just a boy meets a girl, a boy falls in love with her, then the boy risks everything to tell the girl he loves her?
What if it was more than that?
What if it was how God, the Creator of the universe felt about you?
What if He was so aware of His love for you that He would cut off something so precious and beautiful from Himself, wrap it with a priceless, irreplaceable gift, and bring it to your doorstep?
What if He stripped away all the things that could really hurt you?
What if God, the one who designed us and gave us the freedom to choose, was willing to risk you rejecting Him over and over again every time He reached out to you?
What if no matter what you do, nothing will change the way God feels about you? His love is endless and unconditional.
What if the first step was for you to not only recognize God in your life but to want to really know Him and care about Him?
Listen for the sound of Him coming into your life, and when you open the door to your heart – you’ll want to accept His Gift. God chose it just for you: Jesus.
