Some writers love; some writer’s hate
It causes them to stay up late
Scribble, scribble, sigh and wait
Looking straight ahead you stare
Into a flickering, white square
Waiting to find inspiration there
Your bottom glued firmly to a chair
The perfect inspiration is hard to find
Writing becomes an awful grind
Searching for words that loose not bind
Until suddenly you are inspired
The pen scribbles, they keys click
Writing words and phrases that stick
Lighting up the candle’s wick
Bursts in to flame so very quick
Careful, trembling fingers quell it
With the quick and hasty edit
Your judgmental brain read it
And decided it was not to your credit
Inspiration must be carefully managed
So that it is not hastily damaged
With the delete button that is savage
This is part of a writer’s challenge
So perseverance is a trait
Some writers love, some writers hate
But when he and inspiration date
They become each other’s mate
