Nobody in this world needs that type of strife,
Depression is one of the heaviest bags,
Un-happiness and fear become the luggage tags.
Un-forgiveness appears to be one root cause,
This is why forgiveness is one of God’s bylaws,
We ask Him to forgive us as we forgive others,
Then tend to hold things against our own brothers.
Forgiving is giving up our right to repay,
An eye for an eye is not the righteous way,
Some things in this life just don’t seem fair,
Please don’t believe the lie that God doesn’t care.
Tough times build character in me and in you,
One of the toughest things in life for us to do,
Is to Forgive God when our loved one suffers and dies,
And He doesn’t heal or even seem to hear or loud cries.
Know that ultimate healing is part of our eternal life,
So don’t go through this life with bitterness and strife,
Forgive Our loving Lord with all of your heart,
He is always anxious to give us a fresh start.
From bitterness and depression we can depart,
It is grace, love and joy He’ll gladly impart,
Sing praises to Him from the joy in our heart,
It is time we get forgiveness down to a fine art.
A fluids engineer who was participating in a lunch-time Bible study recently said, “Bitterness is the one acid that will destroy its own vessel.” Living with bitterness is like going through life carrying heavy luggage. This shows up as depression and unhappiness and truly is debilitating. Seeing past the depression and recognizing that one is bitter is the first step. The next step is looking for the root cause.
The root cause appears to be unforgiveness from my limited view. Some believe that we need to look into our past to find the source of the bitterness. I say that once we’ve found the source we’ll need to deal with the situation. Most if not every situation that causes bitterness needs forgiveness. Our inability to forgive is usually due to our lack of appreciation or understanding of the price Christ paid for our forgiveness.
Please forgive me if I’ve made this seem easy. Unloading this type of luggage is a tough task. But I beg you to not carry it all the way to your grave as my loved one has recently done. Bitterness not only destroys its own vessel, but it seriously damages the vessels nearby. So put on the armor of God and fight the battle. Develop the life giving spirit of forgiveness.
