When my son, Stephen, was born I got a bit of a shock, as he had bright orange hair.
I had blonde hair and my husband had black hair. We couldn't figure out how Stephen had orange hair.
We started to ask our families if they knew of any other family members who had orange hair. I found out that my ancestors were from the Celtic line. This meant that they were from Ireland. Features of the Celtic line included orange hair and freckles.
So Stephen had defiantly taken on the characteristics of my ancestors.
I found it exciting to think that I might have family members living in Ireland.
I traced back and discovered that I had a distant relative who lived in Dublin. We started to communicate with each other and shared photos.
We could both see the family resemblances. My Irish relative is called Orla. She has a daughter who has orange hair and freckles.
We hope that one day we will be able to meet in person. In the meantime we communicate by email and phone.
Somethine else we have in common is that we are both Christians.
We both thank God that my son had orange hair otherwise we would not have got to know each other.
