“The prices on homes are so good right now, Lord. With that little bit of money we have put away, we could buy a house now. It could be a good investment and might give us a good return on our money at some point.”
I pleaded my case before God while taking my daily walk through our quiet neighborhood. When I came across this big, fat earthworm wiggling across the dry, concrete sidewalk I spoke to it directly.
“What are you doing, silly worm! Look at that beautiful, lush, green grass that you are leaving behind! Can’t you see that you are headed toward the hot, dangerous street! There isn’t anything green, or life sustaining where you are going!”
Whoa! It was like God was speaking to me through this lowly earthworm.
“What are you thinking, silly woman! Look at the lovely rental house you are in. It is well within your budget. Stretching your budget to get into a house is a dangerous place to be! It will cost you more than just your money, but also your peace-of-mind and well-being.” Ouch!
Forgive me, Lord, when I am tempted to be greedy. Guide me into your place of contentment. I choose to be content where I am. Thank you for your perfect timing and constant provision.
