Topic: Luggage (08/15/05)
The luggage I carry is in my heart. At times, I can not let go of the sins that I have been forgiven. When I get up from my altar of prayer why do I pick them up? Why can I not leave them there where they belong in the sea of forgetfulness?

When I speak of it my Lord says, What Sin? I stop and wonder why can I not forgive myself and if I can not forgive myself can I really forgive others? Do I feel I got off lightly? That heaven’s wrath did not rain down upon me as it should. How is it that God so easily forgives and forgets? Then I remember the love and sacrifice of God. How because he loves me he allowed his only begotten son to pay the price for the sins I commit daily. By forgiving me when I ask, he is recognizing the exchange Jesus offered at the cross. There is a price to sin and the choice is mine to pay it or to accept the payment Jesus has already made.

Thank you Father for loving me and offering me forgiveness daily. Be patient with my heart as I learn to leave the luggage behind and become stronger in my daily walk with you. Amen.

With just a tweak or two this would make a wonderful poem. If you have that bent, try keeping all the concepts and getting them into a bit of a groove. This was really good.
