In the black of the night he moves towards her house. The temptation, being so strong, that all that he knows to be right just slips from his mind. His walk becomes much like the slithering of a snake.
Leaving thoughts of his wife out of the fantasy that he has brought to life, he knocks at the door. The woman he has come to see hides behind the door and trembles as she reaches for the knob to let the man enter.
The woman, not being a harlot, but the bait that Satan has used to draw the man from his walk with the Lord, welcomes the backslider in. She does not know him as he is, but as someone who offers her love.
The woman, being unsaved, does not know real love. Even love of the world has passed her by. When the man enters, he swallows her up in his arms and his kisses prey over her. He knows just the words that will give him what he has come to take.
Later, the deed being done, the man gathers himself together, gives promises of love and more times together, and leaves.
The woman being spent, and used, wonders what she has done. Why did she not feel the love?
Feeling trapped the woman answers the knock and opens the door, again and again. Her life becoming darker and darker until it was black as black can get. Not a speck of light could shine through.
Then one day the woman visited a church. There she felt something that kept calling her back. She heard about a man who loved her so much that He died on the cross for her sins. She heard about His everlasting love, how she could have mercy and grace, and she heard how she could open a different door.
Then one beautiful Sunday, she heard the knock and the call. She answered and opened the door of her heart to Jesus. He entered and the light took over the black, and she was saved.
The man saw the light in her eyes as she told him she had found love. She told him about the Savior that swept her off her feet and set them aright. Knowing that he had lost her, the man turned, and entered the black of the night.
