If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Mathew 7:11, NKJV)
It was the prettiest gift of the bunch, wrapped in silver paper, donned with a pastel blue ribbon and bow. Could it be that her prayer had been answered?
Just the night before, she knelt beside her bed, as she did every evening, before falling with relief and thanksgiving, into the feather mattress. With praising and worshipping her Father in Heaven, softly spoken, she begins her requests. There were the blessings for the Pastor and family, safety for her truck driving husband, healing for the neighbor across the way, and angels to protect her children.
With much hesitation, she considers the beautiful full length blue dress, she had seen in the fashion store window, earlier that day. She could visualize and feel the softness of the fabric, as she would slip it over her head, and it falling gracefully down her body. She had never owned anything like it. Her birthday, being the next day, was also on her mind, and she wondered, could she pray forth such a selfish desire.
Suddenly, she felt as she did as a small child, and to her Heavenly Father, the woman made her request. Shyly, she closes with thanksgiving, and in Jesus’ name.
Now she holds the package, the one with the pretty blue bow. She pulls on the ribbon, and it softly falls loose, exposing the silver paper. The excitement becomes too intense, and the woman rips the paper off, and throws back the cover of the box. There she finds nestled in soft blue tissue paper, the dress!
