Each year as winter approaches I am reminded of the many things it brings. It has always been my favorite time of year as it brings a peaceful change to the hurried hot summer months. With a change in the season there is time for family and friends to settle down for awhile. Winter is a time of miracles for me each a blessing. A time to appreciate God last year it was my first grandchild. This was truly a gift the winter before had brought the battle I almost lost for my life against cancer. Though sadness now hangs around me I was also given the blessings to see more clearly what is important.
Winter brings rain to cleanse and refresh all that is parched. To heal what has wilted in the summer’s heat to bloom again next season. The change in the weather brings a calming effect as you watch the rain fall. Or in my case you can have a good cry and no one will see yours tears. God’s, time with nature to feed all that is thirsty and give them rest. A time when animals hibernate while there is not food and emerge to a feast that winter created. We to need to spend time with ourselves a little quite hibernation time is good for our soul.
I always will have a special love for this season that renews, remembers and celebrates all those who know him. Winter has a peace about it for all who look for it. In this hurried world many are angered by the delay getting to work and the many restrictions it can place on them. Maybe if we would stop and remember we need this time. Do you remember the time when a sudden rain caught you and how good it felt? There was a fresh smell after the rain and the rainbow in the sky. What that rainbow represents? The days are shorter the nights are longer more time to rest and relax.
It brings a time to wrap up and cuddle with the Good book by the fire. Listen to some calming music. Let your soul be fed. A time to give thanks for all that is. Family and friends gather together to celebrate this time of year. Memories are made with grandma, mom and daughter gather in the kitchen to make this season special treats that warm the soul and the heart. Time spent together to remember this year and look forward to more blessing in the New Year.
Winter brings December the time of year when all will think of him. As you drive through the streets and see the many lights and Nativity scenes in remembrance of him. Hear the carols singing Silent Night. People spending time together, a cup of hot cocoa simple things that warm the heart and soul. They want to share their love and kindness with those that are in need. A time to share the meaning of the season giving their time and hope to the hopeless. Truly a time of year that brings out the best in us. In these times more than ever we need to rise above all that seems hopeless and have faith in God. See his angels in front of you, behind you and all around you. It is not about the gifts you have the greatest one of all.
Winter is the season that brings the promise of a new beginning for all things that are fed by the rain and the snow. This is the time when he gives rest so that all life will flourish. It gives us time to reflect that it takes being fed for us to become renewed in our heart and soul. He wants us to have a spirit of peace and joy in all things no matter what. Share his promise of peace on earth and good will to all. Just as he carries for the smallest plant or animal so does he care for you? Let winter remind you that everything has a season. It will bring renewed strength to all living things just like the rain fed the land and melted snow will fill the rivers and streams he fills you.
Thank you God for Winters Peace
