She whispered :-
“ My Son, my Son, I have indeed been given a beautiful baby ”
She suckled and nurtured him through infancy. He grew strong in the ways of God and in
childhood excelled in all he did.
Mary marvelled and softly spoke.
“ My Son, my Son, I have indeed been given an unusual child ”
The child matured to become a man, but it was hard for man to accept and comprehend him.
He remained unblemished through every trial and temptation, and earnestly taught the purpose of
man’s existence.
He displayed his power and majesty through wonders and miracles, but still man did not fully
understand who he was. Instead they hardened their hearts and became unreceptive to all he did
and said.
He was rejected without cause. Cast down without reason.
Now she watched helplessly from afar, as his life slowly ebbed away.
How hard for her eyes to rest on that agonized face she once caressed.
How she dearly longed to softly stroke that once infant hair.
How she felt the excruciating pain as iron hard nails were driven through his wrists and ankles.
How her soft and tender heart bled with grief as the life’s blood spurted and trickled, from the one
she had lovingly borne.
How hard and sharp the spearhead that pierced and parted that soft and innocent flesh.
Through tears of great sorrow, she quietly whispered.
“ My Son, my Son, I have indeed been given a most unique man. Why have they done this to
you?”
The sky darkened.
It was hard for her to look as his gaunt and broken body, lifted up in life, was now taken down
lifeless, to be entombed in a cave.
Women visiting the cave later, found it empty and his body missing. When told that he was alive
they wondered. They then saw him with their own eyes, and announced joyfully,
“ HE HAS ARISEN : HE IS ALIVE ”.
When Mary heard, she praised God. and loudly proclaimed.
“ My Son, my Son, I am indeed given a glorious Saviour”
“You were my baby whom I nourished”.
“You were my child whom I cherished”.
“You were my Son, a man set apart”.
“But far above all these things, you are surely the Son of God, my Lord and Saviour”.
The Saviour of the world reserves a place for us in heaven, and freely gives eternal life, not only to
Mary, but to all those who will faithfully believe.
