Topic: Christmas Gifts (11/13/08)
Dennis and Jane Erikson were frustrated, because their Christmas was in doubt. Both of them were recently laid off from their jobs. Dennis had been working as a carpenter for McBride Construction. His wife worked for Sunrise Rent A Car as an accountant. They just did not feel comfortable spending money for Christmas gifts for their 10-year-old Jamie.

It seems like today as a society we have lost our focus. We can’t wait to see what our son Jimmy will think of that new electric guitar. Then there is that gadget we hope that our wife will get us for Christmas. We think it will fulfill our life. The fulfillment only lasts for a short time.

The gift that gets forgotten about is the most important gift. If it weren’t for this gift we would not be celebrating Christmas. That gift is the birth of the babe in the manger named Jesus That gift is the fulfillment that will last a long time. If it were not for Jesus our sins would not be forgiven.

Christmas should not be about gifts or broken family relationships. It should be about the gift we got over 2,000 years ago. Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving.

You had a good story idea here and I expected to read the full story as indicated in your 1st paragraph. The story, complete with some good dialogue, would have pulled the reader in and made your point without the teaching. Everyone loves a good story and FW is the perfect place to practice your technique.
