I think of how Mary and Joseph made preparation for the birth of a King. The responsibility that must have weighted heavily on their shoulders that night. There was no place for them other than in a stable that housed life stock. No mid-wife, only the gnarled hands of a carpenter would assist in the birth of the Savior that night.
Mary and Joseph had gone through much with the pregnancy of Mary, and the gossip of those that did not know the truth. She and the child she carried were considered outcast because Mary was not married. Joseph also in his own way must have gone through his own problems of whether to cast her off, or marry her and raise the child.
When the Angle of the Lord came to Joseph and told him who the child was, and what to name Him, Joseph took Mary as his wife teaching the young child the only trade he knew which was carpentry, and Mary would raise Him in the only way she knew with love, and the knowledge of who His Father was.

I'd have liked more about the carol; after the first paragraph, it's more like just your reflections on Christmas in general, so this may be marked down a bit for being on topic. And be mindful of the difference between "angle" (from geometry class) and "angel" (from the Bible).
This is a peaceful little essay--I look forward to reading more from you.
