As with every good game, there are rules and every contender must be willing to learn the correct procedures to play. Of course, in every game there are a few participants that only want to do it their way and in the game of life, things are no different! Every morning sun spins the arrow to point toward the next move, will it be one jump, two or maybe “you’re out” and your game is over. We have no control over the spinner when it is in motion….will your player stay on the board a long time or will the next move be all that is allowed?

My mother is 82 and still playing her game, her two sons (10 days and age 35) ended their play early. Life is so full of surprises: I just taught my grand-daughter to play checkers, she tries so hard but many times she will move the checker the wrong way or jumps to many times and I will say, “you know that you can’t do that!” And she will frown and then she plays by the rules and eventually moves her man down the board until she gets her checker crowned and then look out because she knows that its “no hold barded” and she can move all over, up and down practically anyway she chooses. She has the king, and he can take care of her when the enemy gets close.

Do you have the King with you to fight your battles? I do and believe me it makes a world of difference. I learned the rules of engagement early in life through a praying mother and father, I tried my own way but it only slowed down the progression that is taking me to the goal. I want to win. I want to gain the prize. I want my crown! I can only do that by playing the game of life according to God’s standards and rules. II Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”
