We sometimes look at others when they hurt us and judge one way or another.
I remember one time when I was hurt by another Christian that I had held up on a pedestal. She had been a Christian for as long as I could remember, and I was a new Christian. I was attending Bible Studies, Church on Sundays, and a weekly women’s group that met for prayer and fellowship. I was so hungry for the word that by following this woman I hoped to have what she had. Her life seemed so full, while mine seemed to be in chaos. When she walked into to Church on Sunday mornings, the members seemed to gather round her and let her know how much they loved her.

One Monday morning I received a call asking to ride with me to a Birthday party for the Pastors wife. I said that I would be happy to pick her and a friend up to go to the party. I had not received and invite, but assumed that this was a mistake so with a feeling of being included, I dressed very carefully and drove over to pick them up. When we arrived at the restaurant I dropped them off at the door telling them I would park the car and join them soon. Like a bomb shell, she looked at me and said “We just need a ride, could you come back and pick us up later that afternoon?”

This incident happened more than twenty years ago, and since that time I have grown in my faith and my patience. I have learned to forgive others when they cause me hurt and pain.. I also found in my faith walk that when Jesus Christ the Savior died on the cross, the ones that He provided a safe passage for, many only let Him take them so far, and they left Him. I can only imagine how He must have felt. For this reason, I am grateful that in Luke 23:34 Jesus said “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Wow, I truly loved your article. It was so real and honest. It was also encouraging. Instead of blaming God for His poor representation and turning from Him, you have continued to seek God. What an awesome and wonderful relationship you must have with God. Thank you so much for your story.
