Oh Lord, there’s been a blindfold with charade written upon it covering my eyes, as the course of my day has been filled with distractions. Charades have covered my conversations, as I talk with others. There’s a charade hiding within my heart, as I am distant from feeling your emotions. My day has been a charade for much of the time, as I’ve not been transparent in my conversations with you, oh God. And I hide from you so often, in the pretenses, in the travesty of an ill charade game I’ve placated my life to be.

Won’t you be gracious in showing me mercy? For I’ve danced before you in a charade to gain your approval. I’ve spoken the words I’ve secretly thought would be the right ones you might like, when all you’ve wanted is my loud honesty. I’ve played away my day, altering it into a lousy farce. The lie held within, it falls dead before you, as I open my mouth to declare the honesty of my true self.

And I look about in remembrance at those about throughout my day. I think to the charades we all venture to play with you. And I see one certainty in it all. I’ve longed and desired to step into reality. Past the charades I want to journey. Beyond the games I want to dance. Into the bliss of knowing you, I long to step. And deeply far into the feelings of your romancing heart I open myself to this black and rainy night.
