Ron was asleep. I gazed at him and was scared to look away with the fear that he might roll and fall, or even, disappear! I watched his closed lids and little nose. Then, I noticed he had pink lips, the same color with his toes. I smiled at him but he didn’t smile back. With rosy cheeks and lovely hands, he slept on, unconscious of the 7-year-old girl staring at his lovely face.
Jeez! Ron was the pettiest boy I had ever noticed. I never realized this until I watched him with full concentration. Before, I knew it, I withdrew my fingers and gentle traced his eyebrow, it as smooth and perfect. Then gently, I touched his warm nose, and down to his lips. I leaned closer to look at him for he was like a cute little angel to me, and from that day I chose to call him ‘my cute little angel’ (CLA).
I ran to my room to get a pen and paper, and gently, I drew CLA’s face on a paper. It wasn’t perfect but I loved it. I drew the lines of his hands, and other part of his body but his left side was covered with blanket, so I couldn’t get a good view. I reached for the blanket, but I was too fast. Ron woke up from sleep and let out a loud cry!
I was scared at first and thought of running away but I couldn’t. I was angry I woke him and tears began to form in my eyes. I tried to touch him but he kept crying. I showed him his picture I drew, but alas, he cried more as if he just saw his caricature!
I reached for him to carry but I paused because a part of me still wanted to complete the drawing. I started crying so he would stop, because I thought he would feel my pain too. Behold, Ron and I was crying when Aunt Georgia walked through the opened door with a basket of fruits and a worried look.
