Philippians 4:8 ….whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-----meditate on these things. (nkjv)
Is it hard to follow the instructions of this verse? It depends on your life style. What do you spend your day thinking about? Listening to? Watching? Reading? If they are not Godly things then they are distracting you from what God wants you to concentrate on and that is Him.
1Cor.10:31 Therefore whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (nkjv)
Remember this; whatever you put into your mind is what will come out in your life. Like a half full glass of water that is dirty. If you continue to fill that glass with dirt it will get dirtier. But if you begin to fill it with clean water it will slowly become cleaner and cleaner until all the dirt is gone. Rom. 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death (the dirty water), but the spiritually minded (clean water) is life and peace. (nkjv)

I have heard some say that they just don’t feel close to God.
Are you concentrating on God and all that He is? Concentration is focusing on one thing. It is studying on that one thing. It’s all that matters at the moment. Fill your day and all your ‘moments’ with God and His goodness and He will draw near unto you.
We live in a day and age where concentrating on God is imperative. Our lives are full of stress, anxiety, anger and depression. But if we are concentrating on God we will reap all that is good. For God is good. He desires that you prosper, be happy and filled with peace. Not filled with worry. Concentrate on His word and His promises and your life will be filled with love, joy, peace, goodness, patients, long suffering…. And these fruits will shine forth in your life like a beacon in the night.
2Cor. 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. (nkjv)
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in Him wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.
(hymn)
