My Daddy Is Like My Father
My daddy is like my Father
And I would have no other.
I watch him pray
At each new day
Talking with his Father.
Makes him better than any other.
I watch him read my Father’s Word
And many verses and stories I have heard:
Of men and women who lived for God
And have been guided by the shepherd’s rod.
And now I want to be a Daddy
Like my Father who sent His Son for me.
I bow and pray
At each new day.
Seeking His will
Makes me calm and still.
And as I read my Father’s Word
It divides truth from falsehood as with a sword.
And as I guide my children through life
I pray they will do what’s right.
My Daddy Is Not Like My Father
My daddy is not like my Father
And sometimes I wish I had another.
He wants his own way
And forgets to pray.
He does not talk with his Father.
He says it’s too much of a bother.
He does not read my Father’s Word.
He finds its teachings and lessons absurd.
Oh how I wish my Daddy would live for God.
And walk with Him, like I have trod.
Please, Lord, make me a Daddy
Like my Father who sent His Son to die for me.
Teach me to bow and pray
At each new day.
To seek Your will
And be calm and still.
Teach me to read my Father’s Word
That divides truth from falsehood as with a sword.
Please help me guide my child’s life
And teach him to do what’s right.
