She died when I was two,
Giving birth to my brother;
He died too.
From the pictures I have seen,
She was a pretty girl;
I think on what might have been,
In my world.
.
I have a faint memory;
I’m not sure if it’s real;
I cling to it anyway:
None can steal.
Standing tall and looking great,
Handing me some fruit to eat;
Through the years this moment stayed:
Oh, so sweet!!
.
We called her “Aunty Nana”,
My older sister and I;
Never knew to call her Mama:
Wonder why?
Years later, over breakfast
We heard our Dad was to wed:
“Aunty Nana’s” back at last,
We both said.
But no; it was not to be;
Sure, our new mom did her best.
Thank God for that memory!!
Mum’s bequest!!
A childhood moment treasured;
Precious gift from God above;
Still brings me sweet pleasure:
My Mums love.
