Topic: Father (as in paternal parent, not God) (04/10/08)
Fathers should never underestimate the impact they have upon their daughter’s lives. For the father daughter relationship sets the tone for her relationships with all other males. As well as it plays a major part in the development her self image. In addition to that her concept of God is formed largely through her interactions with her father.

First of all, though it may seem unrelated the way that a man treats his daughter’s mother is of great significance in her life. For if her mother is treated with love and respect she’ll expect those same actions from her future husband. On the other hand if her dad is abusive, verbally or physically to her mother she’s more likely accept that treatment from other men.

Secondly, if a girl doesn’t get the love and attention she needs from her dad she may seek it in all the wrong places. That’s why it is so important that fathers let their daughter know that they love them. In addition to that, it is crucial that a father physically shows his daughter affection by hugging her, kissing her on the cheek and putting his arm around her when she is down.

Another thing, girls self image is largely shaped by the way her father communicates with her. If she hears negative comments and put downs she more likely to have an adverse opinion of herself. On the contrary, she may become an overachiever constantly striving to please her dad or a perfectionist never pleased with herself.

Most importantly a girl perception of God often times reflects her view of her father. If her father treats her lovingly her viewpoint of God is more than likely to be favorable. She will see God for the loving Father that He is and is more apt to have a relationship with Him. On the other hand if her father is harsh with her she’s more than likely to see God as judgmental and hard to please. Therefore rejecting and rebelling against Him.

In conclusion, that is why it is so important that a father bless his daughter. Encourage her, build her up, listen to her, comfort her, and most of all love her.

So much wisdom in this article! I'm glad I have a dad who modeled a loving and kind God to me. I appreciate my dad more and more as the years pass and it's for the very reasons you stated in your entry. Thanks for sharing these important ideas.

So many truths here--I'm so thankful that my daughters were blessed with a godly father!

This could use some edits for punctuation and sentence structure. In addition, I wonder if you could provide some specific anecdote or example, to make it stand out and to give it something new.
