Topic: Easter (05/30/05)
It was the first day of the week after the dreariest Sabbath of my life. I wondered how the terrible death of my Lord could have been part of God's plan. Why were the masses and soldiers allowed to so cruelly mock, scorn and crucify Him who did no wrong? I was grateful Joseph of Arithmethia had given his grave to Jesus, but even that kind gesture could not bring Jesus back to us.
Back to us-- Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead. That showed the power Jesus had. But what about now? Now I was going to to tomb with a stone sealed over it. Surely the guards would allow us women to honor the dead with spices.
Then I saw that the stone was rolled away. I ran to Peter and John and then John ran ahead and stooped down and saw the cloths. John believed. But as hard as I tried, I could not believe that He was alive, like Lazarus. I was left alone in my own grief-- why was it so easy for the others to believe that He arose? I thought, "If only I could see..."
I looked into the sepulchur and saw two angels--one at the feet and one at the head where Jesus had lain. They asked me why I was crying. I could not answer.
Then a man, I supposed to be the gardener, asked me "Woman, why are you crying? Who are you seeking?"
My tears made this man appear to be a blur, but I gathered enough composure to say, "Sir, if you have carried him from here, tell me where you have laid him and I will take him from here.
But then, I heard the man call me "Mary." I knew at once it was Jesus. He called me by name and He was and is my Master. He is Alive!

Good effort. Basically, what I read was a simple retelling of the Easter story. To interest the reader with your writing, perhaps try to show more and describe more detail instead of just relaying the facts. Keep writing!

Yes, you definitely have the basic sturcture of the most important story ever told. With some added description (painting a picture) this would really shine. Blessings to you. :0)

A nice portrait. I like how her tears made it hard to know it was Him -we often wonder how she (and others) couldn't recognize Him at first.
