Cindy returned to her desk after her morning coffee break with a smile on her face and the joy of the Lord in her heart. It was such a blessing when you obeyed the Spirit’s prompting and witnessed for Him. Unfortunately, that wasn’t something she had always done in the past, she learned you may never get another chance to speak to that person about the Lord again.
Usually she took her break earlier but that day she was quite busy and took her break about half a hour later than normal. She just “happened” to be in the break room when two co-workers from another department were there, Ellen and Sharon. They were discussing an article in the morning paper about a convicted murderer and the victim’s family.
“I don’t understand how you could forgive the person who murdered your son, that would be really hard for me” said Ellen.
“If it was my child that they killed I ‘d want to see them executed” Sharon replied. “And on top of that, this guy is preaching about Jesus and forgiveness to his fellow inmates. Like God would really want some killer talking about Him” she added.
“Well I don’t know about all that, but I do think it would take a very special person to forgive the man who took your child’s life” said Ellen.
As Cindy was listening to all of this, she felt the Spirit’s prodding her to tell them about God’s love and forgiveness. So she prayed a silent prayer, “Father, please give me the right words to say.”
“I couldn’t help but hear your conversation” Cindy interjected. “But God can forgive any sin , He loves us that much. He can change people’s lives for the better. I’ve it seen time and again in the lives of many people who attend my church, as well as in my own life.”
“And what church do you attend?” asked Sharon sarcastically.
“Faith and Hope Community Church on the corner of Market and Vine.” she replied.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about your Church” said Ellen. “Isn’t that the Church that hands out food boxes to poor families at Christmas time?’
“Yes that’s us” Cindy answered. “Why don’t you come visit us this Sunday and find out what we’re all about.”
“I might just do that.” replied Ellen.
The verse, “As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work” John 9:4 (NIV) rang true in Cindy’s ears. When God asks you to shine His light into somebody’s life, it is best to do it right away, because you may never have the opportunity again.

Good use of dialogue. I would have liked a little more description of the break room, your co-workers, even your desk, something to make the reader relate more to the story.
