She Kicked
She Screamed
She thrashed about.
She hit
The floor
With two clasped fists.
She sobbed
And sniffed
And rubbed her eyes.
She threw
A book
At brother Chris.
She flopped
And flipped
And shouted "NO!"
She hit
Me square
Upon my chin.
All because my coffee cup
Was kept from her small grasp.
Oh,Annie dear what will I do
when you finally do turn two.
She slapped
My face
With open hand.
She threw
her head
onto my neck.
She tried
to pull
my hands off hers.
She screeched
so loud
my ears did ring.
She arched
Her back
And tried to slide,
Out of
My arms
Onto the floor.
All because I finally tired
and took her up for nappy time.
Oh Annie dear the best part is
I bet you sleep until its six.
Maybe now I'll try to write
Something brilliant, with great insight.
But all I got from hours of thought
Is this silly little poem.

A few stanzas were out of the pattern, and even though there was no rhyme, the short lines gave the sense of a child's quick actions.
