She called him Glow for short.
Now she and Glow went out on raining days as often as possible. Although she was terrified of his blinking gold eyes she loved to kiss his large and often bloody beak. RibbonPink sent Glow out on hunting expeditions to scare the life out of nasty skunks or robbing raccoons or sometimes speaking squirrels, and still there were sometimes that she sent him out after big butterflies. But one day, her horridly precious bird came back with a terrible injury. Blood was splashed all over his foot and was dripping to the ground.
One of his toenails had come off!
RibbonPink screamed like a sizzling barbequed hotdog and jumped on her horse. Wrapping her bird in her best shawl, she galloped as fast as lightening back in the direction of the stronghold. When she got home she stormed into the bird doctor’s office.
“Bird Doctor! Bird Doctor! Glow has a terrible wound and is going to die!” she wailed, tossing the animal to the bird man.
The man fixed Glow up and the beast was good as new by the next day. But RibbonPink was convinced that the man was lying and had his head chopped off.
Other people tried to convince her that her bird was fine and that he wanted to go out and fly with her once more. RibbonPink yelled at them, saying that she was never going to fly her bird again because he was dead.
Then they all lost their heads.
With no other way to resolve the matter, Majesty DragonBreath gave the beast to RibbonPinks sister whom he called ‘CraddleBear.’ {the sad thing that ‘CraddleBear’ is really her name}
And to this day, RibbonPink still hasn’t flown Glow and claims that he died, although she has seen Craddlebear flying him.

I'm not sure I understood why nearly every character had both a name and a nickname--perhaps too many words were spent on that. Think about using more of your alloted words on character and plot development.
This had a lot of whimsy--very colorful.

"RibbonPink absolutely adored birds, she kept thousands in her room, among
which were her all time favorites. These favorites were the woodpecker, blue
jay, seagull, pelican, and the parrot. But she really loved her male bald
eagle the best. His name was Glow Ghat Glinds."
"Glow" gave creative playful expressions, went to a very dark story, but it
have a lots of colorful birds!

RibbonPink loses a little adoration for her bird here in tossing him?
“Bird Doctor! Bird Doctor! Glow has a terrible wound and is going to die!”
she wailed, tossing the animal to the bird man.
