The place is fuming with smoke…
I cannot bear this agony Lord,
It is too much for me,
I look up to heaven…
And there I see Peter at heaven’s door,
Your loving heart forgave him though he denied you…
You forgave the Samaritan woman,
You let Mary Magdalene wash your feet…
You taught us love, you taught us compassion…
But I never understood… though standing right beside You,
If only I had beheld those compassionate eyes,
As you hung on the cross because of me,
If only I had said “Dear Lord forgive”
I know from my innermost being,
You would have waited at heaven’s door to welcome me,
Your affectionate heart would have forgiven me,
Your strong arms would have embraced me…
But I chose not to,
And here I am doomed for eternity…
Cursed forever,
It is all over Lord…
It is all over...a pathetic end to a wonderful beginning.
