I pray Thee Lord my sanity to keep.
I’m glad to see this crazy day end.
I hope this doesn’t become a trend.
I woke up with no electric power
No alarm to wake me, no hot shower.
I wrote the check, dropped in the mail,
Oh dear, it’s in my purse – what travail!
In the midst of the chaos, getting ready to go,
The cat caught a mouse - a real one, you know.
Children were screaming, mouse flying in the air.
The dog was barking; I wanted to pull out my hair.
There was no school, but we had errands to run.
We took a wrong turn, being lost was no fun.
The children began fighting in the back seat.
I told them to calm down so we could go eat.
With no power we’ll stay at my mom’s home
But someone forgot something essential at home
So I have to make one more trip out into the night
To make sure everyone is going to be all right.
I won’t dwell on the many problems of this day.
Worrying and fretting doesn’t help in anyway.
So now I’m going to drop my poor, weary head
And trust the Lord for a better tomorrow instead.

I love poems, and this one is funny! I was tired too by the end of it. Try to keep the rhythm consistent for corresponding lines.
