Recently I was, told that my personality is of such, that I take things personally. Now that troubles me when I hear that.. Case in point! Why do I worry or fret so easily? Is there anyone out there that can relate to me?
Martha in the New Testament was a lot like me. She worried and fussed that all was right for Jesus visit. Just picture her in the present day, do I have my nice dishes out, is the tea water warm enough? God forbid His Son would have to eat out of normal dishes or sip luke warm tea. That's not what is important Martha!! Stop your fretting and focus on the important and positive things about Christ's visit. Martha, you get to hear the WORDS of the SON of GOD. To be encouraged in your home by Peace Maker himself Christ. How cool is that Martha?!
So maybe it did not go down like that in Martha's time, but can you see all her wasted energy, thoughts and time. All that brought her more stress and feelings of inadequacy. When it could have been focused on what would have made her feel more fulfilled and at peace. The bible tells us in Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (NIV)
MY PETITION TO GOD:
Dear Father,
Please help me to keep my eyes on you and not get distracted in the non-essential parts of life. If I am feeling overwhelmed or insecure in the little stresses of life, remind me to give those "ANXIETIES" to you and move on. Knowing you are there and will always be my anxiety-relief.
Amen
