Embedded deep within the dense forest; stood a small village where a little girl named Gretchen and her family of nine lived. There was a King named Josiah who ruled over a vast kingdom but took notice of the tiny village where Gretchen and her family dwelt. This King ruled not as a dictator or tyrant, but with kindness and justice.
Over the years, King Josiah would send his messengers to observe and sometimes help the villagers in time of need. The people loved and honored the King because of his goodness and great love for them. He was their high priest, protector, and provider. He even made it possible for them to come to him and experience his love and power on a deeper level. Despite this; however, many would not risk their own lives for such an adventure. They knew the perilous evil that inhabited the forest and the very thought it terrified them. Never the less, the King made available to them weapons needed to strategically fight effectively the forces of darkness so that they could successfully reach his Kingdom.
He even gave the village people permission to use his authority over the enemy named Leviathan. Through his manuscripts; the King showed them how to conquer and stand firm against the adversary. Leviathan was the ruling spirit of pride who was controlling the hearts and minds of Gretchen’s family as well as others in the village. He would slip silently into their midst like a shadow and would whisper profanity against the King. So much so that their hearts grew callous towards the King. They openly shouted false accusations and lies towards King Josiah. They were so entrenched in the bondages of the enemy, that it was affecting them both emotionally and physically. Gretchen knew that she had to do something fast to save not only her family but others in the village; no matter the cost.
The next morning, she arose early to make the long journey to ask for the King’s help. Up until now; Gretchen had read many of the King’s manuscripts but she wanted a personal encounter with him. She came to the conclusion that this was the only way to save her family and friends. Gretchen prepared herself for the treacherous journey the best that she could and planned to take the same path that other warriors had taken long before her.
As she began her journey; she tried to remember everything that the king had taught her from the manuscripts. It is one thing to have knowledge but it is another thing to put it into practice. In her mind; she traversed through the sections that gave her hope and courage. She knew that these would be necessary to get her through the tough times ahead.
As she edged through the forest, step by step, she spoke the words written in the King’s manuscript. They not only comforted her but gave her a sense of peace that permeated her whole being. Gretchen reached down into her bag and pulled out the manuscripts themselves. To her amazement; it transformed into a beautiful sword that seemed to pierce the darkness with a penetrating light. She could hear the enemy shouting at her telling her go home.
The enemy even mimicked the voices of her family in an attempt to dissuade her from pressing on. She would not let them cause her to retreat, despair, or even doubt the King’s love for her. The more that Leviathan shouted the higher Gretchen stretched forth the sword. Soon the enemies’ words were but a whisper and then no more. She kept her gaze fixed on the task at hand.
After a long journey; Gretchen could see the King’s palace. When she finally reached it and stepped into the King’s throne room; there was such a sweet aroma of his presence that she could hardly contain herself. The hardships and sufferings that she experienced on the journey could not compare with her encounter with the King. Gretchen was totally astonished at how well she overcame and won the battle victoriously. She knew that it wasn’t because of her own strength but the authority that the King had imparted to her. She knew that everything was going to be alright because now she was with the King. Her faith in him kept her in a position where the enemy could not touch her.

There were some places where semicolons were incorrectly used, especially to separate an introductory clause from the rest of a sentence. A good test for the use of semicolons: the words both before and after the semicolon should be able to stand on their own as complete sentences. If they can't, some other form of punctuation (usually a comma) is required.
I like the fairy-tale quality of this entry.
I loved the descriptions and the symbolisms.
I'm not sure if it was on topic, but well written.
Keep writing.
I agree about the semicolons. I too loved the fairytale aspect of the story and how Gretchen overcame the enemy and made it to the King.
Keep writing and serving God.
