“Mister, what’s wrong?” asked the little boy to the man sitting at a table alone, head in hands, a tear weaving its way down his face.
“Leave me alone.” The sad man said.
“Mister,” the boy undaunted continued as he put his arm on the mans shoulder, “what’s wrong? I know something is wrong. My name is Billy and I don’t want you to cry by yourself..”
“Go away Billy, you wouldn’t understand.”
“I am pretty smart. Please tell me what’s wrong.” Billy encouraged.
“Okay Billy. You win. My wife died today. She was my whole life and I don’t know what I will do without her.”
“Mister, do you know Jesus?” asked Billy.
“What does that have to do with losing my wife?” he asked, getting angrier.
“It has everything to do with it. Did your wife know Jesus? Do you know Jesus?” Billy kept on.
“My wife knew Jesus. She prayed all the time for me to know Him too. Now that’s she’s gone, how can I ever know Him? If He is really there, why did He take my wife from me?”
“Mister, your wife is in heaven right now with Jesus.” Billy smiled.
“How do you know that? You are just a little boy.” The man asked.
Billy took the man’s face in his hands and looked right into his eyes, “I know because Jesus told me so.”
“Billy, how can you be so sure?” he asked.
“Mister, when my grandpa died, my mommy told me he went to heaven because he knew Jesus and believed him. I know that some day I am going to see him again because I believe Jesus. Do you want to believe Jesus?” asked Billy.
“I do Billy, how do I do that?” the man asked.
“Say this with me. Jesus, I believe you. I know I have done bad things. Please forgive me. Jesus come into my heart and live there. Amen. That’s right mister. Now you belong to Jesus and you will see your wife again in heaven.” Billy had a smile from ear to ear.
“Thanks Billy, I believe Jesus and I believe I will see my wife again.”
