Topic: Worship (corporate) (10/04/07)
" We bring a sacrifice of Praise onto the house of our God" the worship team sang at First Baptist.

At Hope Lutheran was the quiet sound of the organ playing the intro to a great hymn of the faith "Holy Holy Holy"
What type of worship do you like? Do you like the Organ? Do you like a worship band?

Which of these types of worship is correct?

A church I used to attend struggled with this issue. The older people liked the organ the younger people wanted a worship band.

The Bible says in psalm 81:2 Begin the music. Play the tambourines. Play pleasant music on the harps and lyres. 3 Blow the trumpet

David. a writer in the book of Psalms was a musician. They obviously did not have electricity in those days so they could not have an organ or an electric guitar. I wonder if we were to transport David by time warp to the year 2007. If he would of tried to learn how to play an electric guitar?

I wonder what he would of thought of the forms of worship we have today?

We need to honor the Lord in are worship. It does not matter if it is the organ or if it is an electric guitar. Let's honor God The last part of 1 Corinthians 10:31 says if you do anything, do it all for the glory of God. I think both styles of worship can honor the Lord if there done with the right heart. It should be about glorifying the Lord not man.

Great comparisons. Be careful with your punctuation (some was missing) and your capitalization (like psalm should be Psalm. Ensure you use the correct use of words too (are worship should be our worship). Expand on your examples and fix the above then this would be a great tool to use when addressing the changes in corporate worship that we are experiencing today.

Ah! I'm glad you wrote this. Music is near and dear to my heart. I think you have the key to worship with music in this sentence, "I think both styles of worship can honor the Lord if there done with the right heart". You have some great thoughts. Thanks!
