I hand around passively-observing what surrounds.
I hang out at funerals to comfort the bereaved,
Reminding them gently of God’s promise to receive,
Their loved one at once when He calls them home,
My Message- to accept the Savior as Lord.
I hang out at weddings to help the bride and groom rejoice
In their new found union as two become one.
The attendees are charmed by the way I partner with laughter;
And many will gasp among the chatter,
When they “remember that song” and where they heard it too,
Reminiscing and rehearsing-retrospective in mood.
I can bring back memories-some are fond, some are blue.
I can bring them into focus with great passiveness.
And within minutes-I’m gone leaving!
Lest I be amiss!
There is no respect of persons with me,
I accomplish that thing no matter the company.
I bring joy and sadness in equal amounts,
I’ve always been here and my popularity surmounts.
Be careful how you approach me and in what manner you listen;
I can be used to glorify God-my original intention.
But now I am used in all manner of evil,
I’m subtle and passive-so please guard your convictions.
