Through the years as a customer at D. Evils, I grew dissatisfied as I experienced that life had more meaning to it than just materials that D. Evil offered and I was ready to find the real life. After a bitter fight, I left and my search of true meaning to life had brought me here.
I didn’t want to take a chance at this race without some investigation, so I took a seat closest to the front row at this Great Race, which had been in progress for.. “5000 years!!” the board read.
The stadium was brightly lit up from the center, with no regular bulbs and I wondered, if what I saw there was the outlines of Someone on a throne. All the runners wore pure white robes and even if they fell down occasionally, when they got back up, their clothes never got dirty. Each one carried a baton, shaped like a wooden cross. People of all ages, tribes and nations were in the race.
“This is a very strange race!” I mumbled to myself.
Speed didn’t matter, the quality of the race was in how carefully it was being run. None of the runners looked tired, or hungry though occasionally when they did, they were mysteriously helped by strong hands. Their shoes and their joy of running, never wore out. At the end of the race, which I learnt, was different for each of the runners, a light appeared bright, and they would strangely disappear from the tracks into the light. “Where do they go?” I wanted to know.
“So you enjoying the race?”, the lady sitting beside me asked and even before I answered, she added “They’re a bunch of losers, they’ll never win. I came to see how they lose.”
“What are you talking about? Can’t you see the joy, the gladness on their faces “, I countered, only to find, her eyes, shut with lies.
She couldn’t see the truth- my heart let out a silent cry. Over by her side sat a man, stricken by the same fate. I hastily scanned the people around me, they all couldn’t see, what I could.
“Why?” my mind questioned. “Would I be blinded too?” I didn’t want to, but “would I?”
The opponents of the race, blindfolded by lies, carried a plethora of placards. I noticed one, which said, “Stop running, there’s a free meal at D. Evil’s buffet” and another, “You’re a fool, you’ll never win” .
I then noticed , how some of the contenders, got distracted by these signs and left the race to dissolve in the darkness of the unlit sea of faces watching the race. “These runners have no supportive spectators, yet they run with perseverance, the race that is set before them!”.
“How do they do it? ”, I wanted to know.
The crowd on my side was growing heavy and before I could be struck by their fate I wanted out. I made my way to the booth where I could register myself for the race. A simple middle aged man, named Billy Graham, was at the booth, giving out instructions for the race from the Rule Book. People with eyes that could see and ears that could hear, had thronged around him. At the end of the instructions when he asked “Would you like to know this Jesus who died for you, in order that you may see life? Would you like to enter into the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE through Jesus? Do you want to run the race?” I raised my hand high, and a wooden cross was given to me, along with the Rule Book and my filthy clothes turned white. I was in the race.
Almost instantly an extremely loud shout of cheer jolted me.
“This sounds more of joyful cheering than the jeering and negative sounds I had heard at the spectator’s arena” I thought.
As I ran, I looked up and saw a host of witnesses, dressed in white. People who had run the race before me, cheering me on as I ran the best I knew how. On my left, in the center of the stadium, the Son shone brightly to light up my path and I now knew, where I would find the joy and strength to run this Great Race I now run.
