A few years ago I went on a "fishing expedition", exploring other philosophies and beliefs. I didn't have to apply for a license to do this as I was born with a license...God's gift of free-will. However, for my own safety and protection He's written an excellent guide Book that includes not only his Laws, but the means for identifying different "fish" and the fact that there are certain fish that are always out of His season. If I keep one of those fish, there is a penalty. However, through His Love and Grace, once I realize I'm holding onto a fish that's out of His season...His Will...renounce that fish and throw it back, I'm given the gift of His Grace...the penalty is cancelled and I'm restored.
There is no Law requiring us to be ignorant of the different fish that are out there. In fact, balanced, grounded knowledge can make us better fishermen. We just have to know what to keep and what to throw back.
