“What the heck” I said, “Amour, you could only make it better.”
After the fuss and mess we made with cooking, dinner preparations, the guest arrived, and it was time to serve the meal. I first excused myself and my wife that if the Turkey was not tasty to forgive us for it was our first time cooking a Turkey. I was pleased to see that my uncle, my aunt, my mother and father had joined us for dinner and bravely faced the challenge of eating a novice cooked Turkey. It was a nice size group of us, and they were ready to eat. Just then I realized to myself, what if the Turkey was undercooked or overcooked or the special herb was too bitter or…
With no time to waste, my dad carved the Turkey, and I noticed that the room was filled with a sweet aroma. It seemed that everyone smelled it too. It was a satisfying smell. Before anyone took a bite, we prayed for Thanksgiving and at the end of our payer I said,
“This turkey was cooked with love”
I hoped that this last plea for pity would let everyone know the amount of effort that was put into cooking the Turkey. After everyone’s first bite there was complete silence. I thought the complaints were soon coming or the polite decline to a second helping, but to my surprise to opposite occurred. When I looked at the remnants of the 14 pound buttered smothered Turkey, there were only bones and small scraps. It was so delicious that everyone asked about the recipe and asked if we could make one for Christmas dinner. I just responded and said,
“My wife put a special herb” and “yes” to Christmas dinner.
They asked my wife what was the herb, but my wife refused to tell to keep an air of mystery which she called it her secret ingredient. Later that evening, I asked my wife about the secret ingredient, she said,
“It was just cloves but the secret ingredient was asking God to keep his promise, to bless all we put our hands on and HE DID.” She said.
“Praise God” I responded.
