Sitting there sovernly thinking of times spent, times of joy, peace and sharing of ones' love and compassion for others. Do you remember those days when you were fresh faced, sitting beside your mom in church hanging onto every word the preacher spoke as if mesmerized by the importance of Gods lessons and the impact they would have on your own life. Do you remember how quickly the hands were raised at the mere request of help for some poor and needy soul, or even just for a helping hand to patch a leaky old church roof. Memories of sunday brunch served in the old kitchen at the church i grew up in. The busy hands of those wise old women, who so many times looked after me in one way or the other. The rustle of their immaculately starched dresses as they hurried to prepare the meal to feed the congregation. These memories still linger even decades later, I never knew until I was older the impact they really had on me. I realize now that the lessons I learned and now need to remember are still there. I need to remember how to give, oh yes I can say that I do give, I am a giver, but do I meet the need? Do I meet Gods need, the one he set forth in me all those years ago. The need to serve others as he has done, as his son did. Jesus himself washed the feet of sinners, he served those around him and gave all he could give for them, for us. Have you served him? Have you gave all you could to others as Christ did? Are you a volunteer?
