Matt. 28:19 KJV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
God has called many in the carrying out of His great commission. His work in not finished until His return. These faithful followers have acute hearing to the Holy Spirit’s summons. Once they are sure that He has anointed them to “Go into the entire world and preach the Gospel,” they passionately answer His call. Most are called to specific places in every part of the world, according to the Spirit’s leading.
Even though most go to the churches to raise the money for their own support, God supplies the needs. God is indeed pouring His Spirit out, just as He promised He would. These faithful servants are truly carrying on the beckoned plea.
We have always known that these light bearers go to foreign lands to take the “good-news” to the world. America has always been considered a Godly nation until recent years where morality has plummeted. With abortion, drugs, pornography, gambling and many other sins so rampant, spokes people are needed to tell them that they have hope of a better life. His name is Christ Jesus. Now, missionaries are being called to inner cities, college campgrounds, and various places to give the message of hope to those who are now in dire need to hear.
We now have approximately three hundred million people in the USA. Of those there are approximately 295,000,000 souls who do not know Jesus. We rank 3rd in the largest unreached nation. This is astounding news for all of us. These numbers are not made up. They are courtesy of the US Census Bureau.
A petite young woman came to speak to our congregation about being called to a larger city, to go down in the dredges of that city and carry the Gospel. She is so tiny that I thought how brave she is to go into a terrible part of a city to spread the news of salvation. It would not take a very large person to overpower her. She and her colleagues that were in the program had nothing but themselves. They had no shelter, truck or van in which to work from, no materials, or anything. The group fervently prayed over this part of the city. They asked God for His intervention on the behalf of the much needed programs to be established. Soon, Hobby Lobby contacted them and informed them they were going to supply a huge building. They praised God and the building was erected, but it had no partitions for the various assemblages to take place. Back in their prayer closet they asked for more help from God. This Godly operated store contacted them again and supplied the partitioning and all the materials they needed. Winding up with all the equipment that was needed for indoor ministries and street ministries they rejoiced greatly and thanked God and Hobby Lobby for their generosity. It is now a vital organization in that city.
Recently I read in our denominational church magazine about children in S. Africa having to sift through the dump heaps for their food, while living in card board and make shift houses at the dump. That was horrible to read about, but that was not the worst; they had to drink their water from the sewage system. The missionaries are doing all that is possible to help the children from their squalid living.
We are a relatively small congregation who has heard the call to support these missionaries. Prayer and money. We have pledged $125,000 for the year to help send these Godly disciples. That is no easy fete for the number we have in our body, but we are strong believers that the time is vital in spreading the Word.
What else can you and I do? We must find time to pray for the missionaries and those receiving the help in foreign lands and here in America. Prayers for wisdom for the leaders to distribute the funds that are being supplied are needed. Most of all the spreading of the Gospel needs continual prayer, that many souls may be won. We all must reach a little further down in our pockets to help the faithful missionaries.
Lastly, we must be home-based missionaries to our family, friends, and strangers, and neighbors. The great commission is for all. Please anoint us Lord.
