For years we had a gardener to handle our front and backyard maintenance at our home. My husband did not have the patience or the knack for trimming; he would butcher the plants so that there would be very little foliage left. He had a devastating accident, which nearly cost him his life. The accident had left him no longer able to do the construction work that he so loved We sold our home and moved to a brand new home, which had no front or backyard landscaping at all. He discovered a new labor of love, and began to plan our yards. He had decided to do the theme of our gardens utilizing tropical plants; meticulously he strategically placed them creating a sanctuary that is simply breath taking. He may have lost some skills in the accident due to his injuries, but the Lord gave him a gift that was never before realized. We are often just too busy in our daily lives to be open to what the Lord has bestowed to us. Sometimes we have to be forced to take the time to listen and figure out what exactly our gifts are. Some of us never figure it out. I often tell my husband heaven must be simply beautiful because our gardens are just lush beyond what I have ever imagined. We have our own little piece of heaven here on earth, but never would we have had it had it not been for events beyond our control. To often events happen in our lives that we get angry about, events that are beyond our control. I believe if we are open to listening that God gently does guide us to see things from a different prospective, sometimes from an angle we never would have thought to pursue.
