Topic: Garden (09/07/06)
I compare families to gardens. The immediate members of a family are the perennials, coming back year after year and multiplying. Friends of the family are the annuals. Sometimes changing year after year, but always bringing color into our lives. Flowers need rain and sunshine to grow. We need each other to grow.

God is our sunshine and water. Without Him we will wither and die.

I compare myself to my favorite perennial, the Black-Eyed Susan. This persistent perennial will grow and multiply into a radiant deep yellow cluster of flowers, unless it is mowed down or pulled out of the ground by its roots. I could have grown to my full potential years ago if it weren't for the original "Lawnmower Man", aka: my "Dad". He would "mow me down" every time I began to grow, but he never got my roots. I was growing strong roots deeply into the Word of God. My father was the weed in my garden trying to choke me off.

I finally transplanted myself and began to slowly grow. It has taken a few years, but I am strong and blooming. I am growing in the Garden of God. I pray that I will spread His Word and multiply His Kingdom on earth.

I have also learned that what I thought was a weed in the garden has also bloomed into a radiant flower him-self.

This is a nicely written piece, and the descriptions work well - but I feel that this was cut short and needed a little room to grow itself. Work on it further for your own pleasure - there is a little more to this. Keep writing. God bless xx

Great analogy - and nicely written. I'd love, however, to see more! Expand on this - maybe add some more examples. You definitely left me eager to hear more from you!
